Why 'Scarababies’?

Being a Scarababy, you conjure a sense of new beginnings and potential: like freshly emerged scarabs, these fragments are delicate, full of promise, and ready to grow into something great—like you in your life and whatever projects you face.

Transformation and mystery are rooted in the symbolism of the scarab, as these pieces carry the magic of change. They may be strange when evolving and not quite seem what they are at first glance, but they are sure full of surprises—like you and your talents.

Tiny guardians of imagination: these “babies” act as protectors of creativity, nurturing sparks of inspiration and helping ideas take flight.

A fusion of ancient and new: the scarab bridges myth and modernity, anchoring storytelling in something timeless while embracing the fresh and unexpected—like how life has us embrace the fresh and unexpected.

I’ve always searched for a place where I felt like I truly belonged—a space without judgment, without worry, where I could experience peace and joy by being fully transparent. I wanted to express my emotions openly, without fear or shame. I wanted my thoughts to run freely, without restraint. I knew something vital was missing, and I had to either discover it or create it for myself. Once I found that freedom, I began thinking about others who might be longing for the same thing. The Scarab House was born from that vision—a sanctuary that is calm, welcoming, and grounded. It’s a place meant to fill you with comfort, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.

Scarabs are real beetles. They are ancient survivors that existed for over 200 million years. They are a symbol of the sun, rebirth, and the eternal cycle of life. They were also carved into amulets and tomb charms to protect the dead. From 2000 BCE, thousands of carved scarabs were created across Egypt and the Mediterranean. They were used as seals, charms, and even diplomatic gifts.

Scarab beetles hold a rich spiritual meaning across various cultures and religions. They symbolize resilience, transformation, and the cyclical nature of life and death, which resonate very well with Esme. Being obsessively interested in ancient history and diving deep into ancient African history, in ancient Egypt, the scarab beetle was associated with the sun god Khepri and represented creation and regeneration. Other cultures see beetles as emblems of perseverance, humility, and the importance of finding strength within. Esme has always felt a deep connection to these themes, as they reflect her own journey of growth and renewal. The scarab's ability to thrive in challenging environments inspires her to embrace change and find beauty in life's transitions.
